Assessing Heart Rate Using Consumer Technology Association Standards

نویسندگان

چکیده

It is difficult for developers, researchers, and consumers to compare results among emerging wearable technology without using a uniform set of standards. This study evaluated the accuracy commercially available heart rate (HR) monitors Consumer Technology Association (CTA) Participants (N = 23) simultaneously wore Polar chest strap (criterion measure), Jabra Elite earbuds, Scosche Rhythm 24 armband, Apple Watch 4, Garmin Forerunner 735 XT during sitting, activities daily living, walking, jogging, running, cycling, totaling 57 min monitored activity. The mean bias was within ±1 bpm, absolute percent error (MAPE) <3% in all six conditions. underestimated HR conditions, except cycling MAPE >10% sedentary, lifestyle, walk-jog, running. ±5 bpm each condition, exceeded 10% walk-jog. <5% In conclusion, only Series 4 displayed acceptable agreement across By employing CTA standards, future will be able make true comparisons devices.

Assessing positive emotional states in dogs using heart rate and heart rate variability.

Since most animal species have been recognized as sentient beings, emotional state may be a good indicator of welfare in animals. The goal of this study was to manipulate the environment of nine beagle research dogs to highlight physiological responses indicative of different emotional experiences. Stimuli were selected to be a more or a less positive food (meatball or food pellet) or social re...

Listen to Your Heart: Stress Prediction Using Consumer Heart Rate Sensors

Galvanic skin response (GSR) is commonly used to measure short-term emotional and cognitive stress, but measuring GSR requires obtrusive equipment. We present a model to predict stress levels solely from electrocardiogram (ECG) data, which can be measured with wearable consumer-grade heart monitors. Our model incorporates time and frequency domain features of heart rate variability, and the spe...

assessing metabolic syndrome through increased heart rate during exercise

the present study aimed to assess changes in resting and maximum heart rates as primary indicators of cardiac autonomic function in metabolic syndrome (mets) patients and to determine their value for discriminating mets from non-mets. 468 participants were enrolled in this cross-sectional study and assessed according to the updated adult treatment panel iii (atp-iii) definition of mets. resting...

The association between VO2max and heart rate of casting industry workers

Background: To establish a balance between work (physical exercise) and human, the aerobic capacity (VO2max) could be used as a measure. Assessing heart rate in association to physiological symptoms is the most commonly used tools for the assessment of fatigue during physical exercise. This study aimed to investigate the association between the aerobic capacity and the heart rate of workers fro...

Heart regeneration using reprogramming technology

Loss of terminally differentiated cardiomyocytes due to heart disease is irreversible and current therapeutic regimes are limited. Cell therapy using stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes is an attractive option to repair injured hearts. The discovery of direct reprogramming of fibroblasts into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and successful differentiation of iPSCs into cardiomyocytes provide...
